PERformance & Evaluation in CT colonography Screening

How good am I at CT colonography?

This is a question frequently asked of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) National Committee.

PERFECTS, a BSCP and BSGAR supported project, will help you answer this question.
Through a randomised trial we will determine if structured, individualised training and feedback improves diagnostic accuracy amongst radiologists reporting CT colonography (CTC).
Who is eligible?
Radiologists in England, who report CTC as part of their routine clinical practice and are either a:
  • Consultant or;
  • Specialty Trainee or Clinical Fellow within one year of CCT/post-CCT
What is involved?
Radiologists will be randomised, in clusters, to a control or intervention group and both groups will remotely interpret 40 CTCs over 12 months.
The intervention group will receive feedback after each test and will be invited to attend a one-day workshop at St Mark's Hospital, Harrow, focusing on subtle, easily missed lesions.
The control group will receive their test results and feedback at the end of the year and if the workshop is of proven benefit, will be offered this at a later date.
This project is Health Research Authority approved (IRAS 206876)
It [the workshop] was wonderful.
A very good opportunity to have 1:1 session with the trainers and get individual feed back.
The workshop was organised and run very well.
